Wie viele in den letzten Jahren erschienene Spiele kennst du, die in diesem Format (27,5 x 19 x irgendwas) erschienen sind? Mir fällt ohne nachzuschauen nur The King is Dead (2nd ed) von Osprey ein.

Keine Ahnung, aber ich habe eine Regalreihe voll in dem Format. Nur ein ganz klein wenig kleiner ist übrigens die Rote Kathedrale. Die hat fast das Standardformat.
Ein gutes Spiel hat in eine normal-große Schachtel zu passen. Also entweder Catan-Quadrat oder Agricola-Rechteck, mit passender Begründung auch gerne etwas dicker als normal (hier vermutlich: Zivilisationsspiel mit viel Material), aber das muss dann reichen. Sonst fehlt's an Streamlining.
Liest sich fast, als ginge es um den cW-Wert wie in den alten Autoqartetts.

Ist übrigens auch von Osprey. Da hat dieser Verlag wohl eher ein sonst ausgestorbenes Schachtelformat wiederbelebt. Ich finde auch, dass zwei Standardformate Quadrat (Catan) und Rechteck (Agricola), ausreichen. Alles, was kleiner ist, kriegt man auch sonst irgendwie ordentlich im Regal verstaut.

Ich hänge mich mit der Behauptung an, ein guter Autor hat das beeinflussen zu können, weil ja sonst das Spiel schlecht ist.
Immerhin sieht man einem Spiel seine Qualität jetzt an der Whitebox an. ☝🏻

Wenn du genau gelesen hättest, hättest du gemerkt, dass es weniger um "Gute Alte Deutsche Normgrößen" geht als um die Notwendigkeit, ein gutes Spiel auf das Wesentliche zu reduzieren, anstatt nach dem Motto "viel hilft viel" übergroße Schachteln mit möglichst viel Spielmaterial zu füllen. Aber da bisher weder Stefan Feld als Autor noch Deep Print Games als Verlag für diese über Crowdfunding etablierte neue Unart des Spieldesigns standen, ist da eher wenig zu befürchten. Und die Information, dass Civolution in einer etwas dickeren 30cm-Quadratschachtel erscheinen wird, ist dann einfach nur die Bestätigung davon.

Ich weiß nicht, ob ich "sehr gut" sagen würde, aber "gut" würde ich rein von der Illustration her schon sagen, und wenn das Cover es als Bonus sogar sehr gut schafft, die Story hinter dem Spiel zu illustrieren, dann hat der Illustrator seinen Job auf jeden Fall gut gemacht. Das ist beim üblichen 08/15-Portrait-Brettspielcover ja gerade nicht der Fall. Hier bei Civolution geht's ja (gemäß bisher bekannter Infos) darum, dass man quasi gottähnlich an einem futuristischen Reißbrett eine Zivilisation designt. Genau das transportiert das Cover für mich hervorragend. Dann sehe ich auch gerne etwas darüber hinweg, dass es für mich normalerweile ruhig etwas klassischer und weniger futuristisch sein darf. Hier passt dieser Stil halt mal wirklich gut.
Als damaliger Populous 3-Fan triggert das bei mir in Kombination mit meiner Vorliebe für Spiele von Stefan Feld schon ziemlich…
Dss Videospiel Popolus fand ich aufgrund der Gottperspektive damals immer sehr reizvoll als Grundidee und Ausgangssitustion
Wenn davon nur etwas im Brettspiel zu spüren wäre , würde ich das als sehr interesssnt empfinden

Ich bin noch sehr unentschlossen. Hoffe, man bekommt in Essen mehr Infos und einen besseren Eindruck. Ich fand schon so manches Cover ansprechend oder interessant, was aber nichts über die Qualität des jeweiligen Spiels ausgesagt hat. 😉

Sarkastische Antwort: Nein, sie werden nur Stefan Feld vier Tage hinsetzen, der freudestrahlend das Cover auf dem Schoß hält. Und ja, das würde sich vermutlich wie geschnitten Brot verkaufen.
Im Ernst: Es ist als Demo gelistet. Die Wahrscheinlichkeit ist hoch, dass du es zumindest erklärt bekommst oder vielleicht sogar spielen kannst.

Geplant ist nach jetzigem Stand, dass es in Essen zweit relativ weit fortgeschrittene Protos zum Spielen am Deep-Print-Games-Stand geben wird.
Die Wahrscheinlichkeit ist hoch, dass du es zumindest erklärt bekommst oder vielleicht sogar spielen kannst.
Joa. Dann schauen wir mal. Mir ging's tatsächlich mehr darum, dass man von einem Cover noch recht wenig über die spielerische Qualität eines Titels aussagen kann. Beim ersten Satz streiche das "man bekommt" durch ein "ich bekomme". Dann bin ich der Engpass und alles ist gut.
Es wird zwei Protos geben, die vom Publikum spielbar sind. Da kann man sich bestimmt einen guten Eindruck verschaffen. Die Protos sind von Deep Print Games auch schon ziemlich weit ausgearbeitet, sodass man abschätzen kann, obs grafisch gefällt und was man für sein Geld bekommt.
Und meine Handschrift ist schon auch hier deutlich zu spüren. Das heißt, es gibt eine ausgeglichene Mischung aus Taktik und Strategie, Glücksmomente sind vorhanden, aber beherrschbar und die Interaktion besteht hauptsächlich aus Wegschnappen, schneller sein und ein bisschen Verdrängen. Und es gibt viele, viele Optionen und ständig Entscheidungen zu treffen.
Und ich finde auch, dass man thematisch sehr gut eintauchen kann. (Aber was bedeutet das schon, wenn ich das sage? )

EDIT: da bin ich ehrlich gesagt raus. Das ist auf dem auf Jahre im voraus geplanten Mobiliar nicht platzierbar.
Puh, sieht interessant aus aber echt zu groß für unseren 80×200 Tisch. Schätze jetzt das es noch größer als Voidfall ist und das reizt unseren Tisch zu viert maximal aus.

Die Breite des Spiels wird wohl 27-30cm und die Boards dürften 22-23 cm Höhe haben / Breite der Tableaus schätzungsweise 60 cm.
Das müsste also auf einen 80x200 cm Tisch passen .

Das mag schon sein und soll nicht in Zweifel gestellt werden. Allerdings haben das Board und die Tableaus irgendwie einen über einen Proto hinausgehenden Inhalt, wie es aussieht. In diesem oder auch vielleicht ein paar cm davon abweichendem Setting ist das Spiel für mich (!) unspielbar.

Vielleicht verstehe ich dich falsch aber wenn zwei Leute gegenüber sitzen und, so lang wie das Spielbrett erscheint, zwischen den Tableaus noch das Spielbrett ist, schätze ich jetzt das 80cm nicht reichen. Wenn man dann die Spielertableaus neben das Spielbrett setzt, schätze ich das die Breite/Länge zu groß wird.
Der Tisch dürfte 100x60 cm haben. (Die Klappstühle sind 42 cm breit und dürften dies bestätigen)

Das Foto gibt es ganz gut wieder. Für vier waren das zwei aneinander gestellte Tische. Das dürfte bei uns knapp werden mit Tischgröße 90×180 cm.
