"A TRAGICAL LOSS - A week ago and without warning Barry, my friend and our main proofreader passed away in the United States. I´m still shocked. Last Friday, I was writing with him while he was busy on corrections of Space Kraken and told me he underwent a tooth surgery, did not feel well and had to go to a doctor for a checkup. 3 days later his son mailed me that he passed away. He was close to retirement but quite fit, he took care his garden and things like that. I knew him since my Type 7 submarine war game project last year. He was a backer and joined the crew. Since then he was my first proofreader and we wrote about 840 e-mails since that day, and nearly half of them was about life, basically talking with a friend.
You maybe remember his introduction in an update a few posts ago…
I planned to visit him if I ever had the chance to fly to America, and I´ve planned to create a fire fighter game once I find time for it as he was a fire fighter and brought up a cool idea for such a game.
I miss him and I will honor him with Space Kraken. I will add him inside the story as well.
About the translation it means there won’t be a BARRY-APPROVAL anymore, but we have 3 other skilled native proofreaders and a lot more helpers. One will now take the leading position to ensure that the style is consistent and we will continue terminating the game. It may also cost us some extra time because everything is now being reviewed from a slightly different angle and we need to check everything again at least once so the new “master of proofreading” can give his own approval after get the overview of the entire project."
