Zitat von https://boardgamegeek.com/thread/2430322/hostile-takeoverThe reason I use the term "takeovers" (instead of "merger") is A) because it really is one RR acquiring most of the assets of another, as opposed to mergers where the you are typically creating a larger combined RR; and B) one RR must have the capability to actually take over the other RR's assets based on that RR's current stock price. In many 18xx games with mergers, you can often "merge away" one of two requirements to own a permanent train by merging two RRs of roughly equal market value. That's harder to do here, which is why most takeovers occur between two RRs with very different cash, stock values, etc. Using a different term signals players to not think of this action as a "merger". An alternative term might be "buy out" or "acquisition", except that the acquiring company doesn't acquire everything -- just one placed station token and +1 train slot plus cash and trains.
When a RR takes over a RR owned by another player, the President of the RR being acquired must consent. The acquiring RR then has freedom as to whether it pays each of the investors in shares, money, or some combination of them. This freedom is quite powerful, which is why most takeovers are between two RRs owned by the same player...
