Here is an alternate version of the 1867 cover that we may use.
Die Tagline gefällt mir deutlich besser.

A little over a year ago before I started Grand Trunk Games, I had the thought that most 18xx games were really hard to get. They were pretty expensive and sometimes you had to wait 6–12 months to even get a copy of a game. I asked myself, “Why doesn’t someone just Kickstart these games?”
[…]
The biggest hurdle I’ll talk about though is getting to a minimum viable print size. The minimum number of games you ever want to print is 1,500. […] I felt the best way to print 18xx safely was to expand its audience and to do that, its barriers to entry needed to be addressed: price, availability, length, learnability, aesthetics, and stigma.

Wer sich selbst vom Grafikstill überzeugen mag, kann bereits ein paar Eindrücke im GTG-Blog gewinnen:
Messing around with graphic design
Messing around with graphic design Pt. 2 Shares/Certificates
Messing around with graphic design Pt. 3 Trains
Insbesondere die ausführlichen Gedanken zu den einzelnen Komponenten und die bebilderten Evolutionsgeschichten fand ich interessant.

Damit werden sie sich nicht nur Freunde machen!
Mal sehen, was aus „This isn’t to say that 1861/1867 will look like the PnP designs available on BGG, but rather that Karim has been great to brainstorm with in an effort to strike that balance between usable and beautiful.“ dann in der Realität werden wird. Immerhin steht schon mal mehr oder minder explizit dort, dass 1861 und 1867 gerade nicht wie 1889 aussehen werden.

fast 50 Jahre
Der Charakter ist sogar älter als 50, nur der Name noch nicht

I was looking for the right graphic designer for about 8 months (starting all the way back in October of 2018). I wanted someone who was an industry veteran, had strong artistic chops, but also understood what aspects of component design is important to an 18xx player. As you can imagine, there aren’t many people who meet all those criteria. However, considering how many times 18xx graphic design has been done “wrong”, I didn’t want to settle for anyone I felt wasn’t right for the job. After months of searching, I decided that Karim Chakroun was the best person to work on 1861/1867 (you may know him as “Carthaginian” from the many game redesigns he has uploaded to BGG).

We’ve been digging into each component not just finding what we think works but testing each presentation. This takes time and is not a process that should be rushed. While I am very eager to get the 1861/1867 Kickstarter underway, I think everyone will be happier with the result if we give graphic design its deserved time to mature. So as of right now, I have my fingers crossed for September but will push it back if we need more time for graphic design to be fully cooked.

Grand Trunk Games LLC is a small publishing house dedicated to making 18xx games available, affordable, and approachable.
The goal of Grand Trunk Games LLC is to remove the existing barriers to entry, allowing for more folks to discover and enjoy the wonderfully thought-provoking games inspired by Francis Tresham's 1829.
Grand Trunk Games was started because I think there are many who, like me, believe 18xx is some intangible gaming experience when in reality its reputation precedes it. 18xx has an incredible depth and room to explore all sorts of strategies, but many are too afraid to give it a go just because either they believe the games are “above their level”, too long, too expensive, or they wouldn’t want to try it without a teacher.
I’ll be using Grand Trunk Games to remove these barriers to entry so more folks can discover and enjoy 18xx. I plan to do that by making more titles available at a competitive price point, providing in-game content to make titles easier to learn, having full teach-and-playthrough tutorial videos available online, and more.
