Mal ein Auszug als Nachtrag zu Sundrop aus dem dazugehörigen Kickstarter-Update Nr. 49:
Sundrop is nothing new. One Sundrop set can be easily done by any painter in few hours with similar or better results. The whole difficulty comes from making it fast and cheap. We offer Sundrop corebox for 15gbp, that kind of price can barely cover a can of primer and a paint, not mentioning hours you have to put into painting it, washing, applying varnish, and costs of other materials and equipment.
Yet we managed to make whole process much cheaper and faster in order to be able to provide Sundrop at this price.
There is a team of 10 people constantly working on sundrop and we have just employed 2 more to help us. We have over 950 000 models to paint, including over 350 000 left for 1st wave. After all issues and difficulties we do not want to sacrifice quality by rushing this project that’s why we will need another month to finish everything for first wave.
This is a mass painting, economic technique with equivalent around 0,1 USD per miniature.
These Sundrop models were supposed to look better than unpainted plastic and we believe that we achieved that - it is something we developed for people who do not paint / don't have for it but want something better then raw plastic. In our opinion models look very well on board and much more interesting than raw plastic and this is what really counted for us. But if someone want to paint over it.
Das sagt eigentlich alles und wer da mehr erwartet, sollte sich noch einmal vorher genau Kosten / Leistung in Erinnerung rufen.
