The current Teburu grid offers an array of 40 sensors. This technology doesn’t allow for games with dense grids like Descent but it can easily manage many other types of games. In the campaign update #22 we explained in detail some other games we prototyped, how we integrated the 8x5 grid and how Teburu managed the board. The main reason we decided to make a board with “only” 40 sensors is production costs. We wanted to have a platform that lets you play as many types of games as possible while keeping its costs reasonable. Moreover, as mentioned by Davide in our first AMA, we are already thinking about different modular upgrades that will add more functionality and even more flexibility to the Teburu board. Among these upgrades we’re thinking about an additional layer of sensors that would highly increment sensors’ density on the board. This would open Teburu to even more kinds of games.
Regarding the number of miniatures simultaneously on the board, the limit is theoretically infinite because they don't need to be simultaneously on the sensors.
