  • Pagan: Fate of Roanoke | Board Game | BoardGameGeek

  • BGG-Link: Zerywia | Board Game | BoardGameGeek

Zerywia is a cooperative adventure board game set in the primeval world of Slavic myths. It includes a campaign mode composed of individual adventures for 1 to 4 players, linked together by an overarching storyline. Each adventure can also be played separately, as standalone episodes. This enables the players to experience each story in different ways and allows to lead their Heroes on a different path during each playthrough.

Each Hero has their own Saga, a tale waiting to be uncovered and told. Progressing through it grants powerful, new relicts, rituals or allies. As they roam the lands, the Heroes will be able to acquire new Sagas, which shall give them more power and unlock new, hitherto hidden parts of the story. This is why our Heroes are a work in progress, so to speak, and it falls upon the players to shape them and lead them to noble (or not quite so) deeds.

  • Secrets of the Lost Tomb is a cooperative game of thrilling action-adventure and discovery. Players assume the roles of stalwart expedition members working together to investigate ancient mysteries, while surviving dangers and shielding humanity from the supernatural powers of The Tomb—an ancient vault filled with primeval powers perpetually struggling to be set free upon the world. Powers that mankind should never behold…

    The Details:

Each of the game’s Scenario-Scripts has its own unique theme, flavor, and powerful boss monster bringing you into the rich and detailed world of The Tomb. Prepare to prevent the second coming of the Immortal Rhaz Azul, reject the Pharaoh with the Blue Eyes that’s not of this world… or battle against the Elder Forces of Hera’Thulhu sealing the magical portal preventing Cthulhu from enslaving mankind! Each script offers new challenges and rewards. There are many stories that await the players’ fateful choices leading them to thrilling adventures and cliffhangers!

Strategizing with allies against the challenging objective cards is vital to save the world from these untold adventures and misadventures that you will explore. During the Adventurer’s Phase, players take actions to progress through the Script, face Combat with monsters, complete Side-Quests and Personal Missions, revealing more details about the characters, all the while overcoming the hair-raising Trap Rooms and sensational Story Cards.

As you explore new rooms your world will fill with untold delights, with each step a new world and new civilization of fame or of infamy is revealed… From the Crypts of the Mayan Empire, to the Pyramids of Egypt, through the Temples of the Orient, to the Ruins of Ancient Greece… the world is yours for the taking and its secrets are yours for the knowing…

Dangers are everywhere as you encounter these breathtaking wonders… but so are the rewards. Lethal Weapons, Priceless Relics, and Enchanted Artifacts will help you survive each frantic step. You may face a gruesome monstrosity that will push you to the brink of death, however upon defeating that monster, you will feel re-invigorated to reach out for that Artifact of Immense power and press on facing all that The Tomb can throw at you. Tomb Cards send orders to lurking monsters to move and attack, spawn anew, apply mystical effects, and progress the Three-Tailed Comet … foretold by the ancients… whose end shall awaken and unleash the primordial evil… and if you're not ready to face it… you and your team will be Devoured as it ventures outward to decimate the world.

  • BGG-Link: Cthulhu: A Deck Building Game | Board Game | BoardGameGeek

The Elder Gods greet and invite you to participate in trying to save your wretched existence. The stars are aligning soon and only those who have dared to piece together the clues from the mythos even know what's coming. Do you and your fellow investigators have what it takes to save everything? I think not...

In Cthulhu: A Deck Building Game, you cooperatively work with fellow players (1-6 players) as Investigators to banish the Elder God and his minions by using Moxie (force of character, determination, or nerve) to reduce their health to zero. If you banish the Elder God before he reduces all of the Investigators health to zero you win the game.

There are two phases of the game, a planning and combat phase.

    1) In the planning phase, the Investigators activate cards in their hand, research new cards at the Miskatonic University and then ready themselves for final preparation.

    2) In the combat phase, the Elder God and his minions attack the Investigators' health and sanity. Investigators may go crazy or die out right, however, they have a chance to fight back. The Investigators use Moxie to push back the waves of the occult and supernatural.

Building your personal library by researching in the Miskatonic University makes you stronger and is your only hope against the Elders. Keep in mind, every bit of resource used to research is a bit not used against the Mythos. It is a balance you must solve to defeat the Elder Gods.

  • BGG-Link: Antiquity | Board Game | BoardGameGeek

Antiquity was first published in 2004 and reprinted in 2005, 2011, 2012 and 2017. Here's the original introduction:

"These fields no longer yield grain the way they used to," complains the farmer. "We should settle new lands before our food runs out. Why don't we start farming olives, like our neighbours?". The cart-driver nods: "Ever since them city folks started worshipping San Giorgio I have to travel further and further to new building sites. I'm on my way now to the new inn they built. I'll change horses there and deliver this load" he gestures towards the pile of wood in the cart with his head "to the sea beyond. Gonna start some fisheries there. It is said we'll conquer those olive-farmers before long. But their land is even more polluted than ours." The farmer nods his head in reply. As the cart starts moving again, he returns to the field to harvest the last bushels of grain, growing between the stumps of what used to be a lush forest - three turns ago.

Antiquity is a strategy game for 2-4 players. It is set in an environment loosely modeled on Italy in the late Middle Ages. Players choose their own victory condition: they can focus on population growth, trade, conquest, or city building by choosing their patron saint. Each strategy requires a completely different style of play. Or you can choose to adore Santa Maria, the most powerful saint of all - but you'll be expected to build a civilization twice as impressive as any other player. While your economy is constantly improving, with more and more advanced cities bringing new options each turn, the land around your cities is slowly being depleted, forcing you to travel further and further to gather your raw materials - until finally, there is no more land left to farm. Let's hope one of you has won the game before that time!

  • Zitat

In this turn-based tactical combat boardgame, players recruit teams of three or four from a wide pool of Heroes, all of them experts in a Combat Role, like Tactician, Healer and Bruiser. There are countless combos, counterpicks and strategies to explore in the attempt to build a powerful and synergistic team.

In Competitive mode (PvP), both teams fight each other until one eliminates all opposition and wins the battle. Matches begin by strategically positioning highly-detailed miniatures in an infinitely customizable battlefield featuring optional elements that change the dynamics of combat, such as walls, debris, altars and lava. You're required to plan ahead, consider your enemies' moves and work in harmony with your team in order to find the best possible action when your turn comes.

In Cooperative mode (PvE), the Player(s) build a team of 4 Heroes to travel the fantastic world of Tanares in order to solve an ancient mystery, facing Missions with different problems, hazards, and goals. Campaign Cards present players with challenging events, requiring tough decisions that shape the course - and outcome - of an adventure that find its climaxes in the difficult Dragon Boss Fights.

Verlagsseite: GMT Games - Twilight Struggle Deluxe Edition - 2016 Reprint

"Now the trumpet summons us again, not as a call to bear arms, though arms we need; not as a call to battle, though embattled we are – but a call to bear the burden of a long twilight struggle..."
    – John F. Kennedy

In 1945, unlikely allies toppled Hitler's war machine, while humanity's most devastating weapons forced the Japanese Empire to its knees in a storm of fire. Where once there stood many great powers, there then stood only two. The world had scant months to sigh its collective relief before a new conflict threatened. Unlike the titanic struggles of the preceding decades, this conflict would be waged not primarily by soldiers and tanks, but by spies and politicians, scientists and intellectuals, artists and traitors. Twilight Struggle is a two-player game simulating the forty-five year dance of intrigue, prestige, and occasional flares of warfare between the Soviet Union and the United States. The entire world is the stage on which these two titans fight to make the world safe for their own ideologies and ways of life. The game begins amidst the ruins of Europe as the two new "superpowers" scramble over the wreckage of the Second World War, and ends in 1989, when only the United States remained standing.

Twilight Struggle inherits its fundamental systems from the card-driven classics We the People and Hannibal: Rome vs. Carthage. It is a quick-playing, low-complexity game in that tradition. The game map is a world map of the period, whereon players move units and exert influence in attempts to gain allies and control for their superpower. As with GMT's other card-driven games, decision-making is a challenge; how to best use one's cards and units given consistently limited resources?

Twilight Struggle's Event cards add detail and flavor to the game. They cover a vast array of historical happenings, from the Arab-Israeli conflicts of 1948 and 1967, to Vietnam and the U.S. peace movement, to the Cuban Missile Crisis and other such incidents that brought the world to the brink of nuclear annihilation. Subsystems capture the prestige-laden Space Race as well as nuclear tensions, with the possibility of game-ending nuclear war.

Alice, Mad Hatter, Red Queen, Jabberwock, and Cheshire Cat must gather all that they can while playing nice at the Hatter's Tea Party before going to battle!

In Wonderland's War, 2-5 players take the role as a faction leader who has been invited to the Hatter's tea party. Drink tea and eat cake as you move around the table drafting cards to gather your forces, build your towers, upgrade your leader, and recruit Wonderlandians to your cause — but one must be careful as shards of the Looking Glass are spread throughout Wonderland. Once all the plates are empty, the Tea Party is over and war begins. Use the forces you gathered to battle your enemies in familiar locations, but make sure not to draw your shard chips or your towers will fall and you will be out of the fight. Can you muster enough strength to win the battle, or will you just try to gain region bonuses for set scoring throughout the game instead?

After all the battles have been fought, a truce is called and everyone meets back at the tea party to plot their moves for the next fight. After three rounds, the faction with the most points will be crowned as the new leader of Wonderland!

  • In Galaxy Defenders, each player takes control of one or more agents with unique powers, trying to defend the planet from an alien invasion. The battle for Earth against the aliens develops in a series of missions organized in a story-driven campaign.

Missions are based on modular maps designed by "0onegame" and are played over a variable number of rounds. Each mission may have multiple endings and the outcome of any mission will change the flow of the story.

The battle will be carried on round after round; each player will play in sequence his agent turn and then, one aliens turn. after that, the game will pass to the event phase that will bring the players to the next round.

The agents will gain experience during the missions and this experience can be used to transform a good soldier into a perfect galaxy defenders agent with multiple skills, basic and improved tactics and the ability to use new devices, advanced human weapons and alien technology.

The core game features 28 high-detailed miniatures, modular maps, custom dices, agent profile sheets, event, alien and closed-encounter cards and much more.

In Galaxy Defenders the aliens are controlled by the game itself through a sophisticated, card-driven artificial intelligence system, based on 2 objects:

Alien Card: represent the A.I. of the alien, with his movements, skills, life points and weapons. Each alien figure on the map will be bonded to a specific card to keep track of his powers and life points.

Close-encounter Card: is a card that will be drawn by the active player at the beginning of each aliens turn to determine which aliens must be activated.

This system grants a different A.I. for each alien species, and also simulate the chaos of battle because the agents don’t know in advance which alien will be activated during the next aliens turn.

The level of difficulty will scale dynamically based on the number of operative players in game. This system grants the right level of difficulty with any number of players. In this way, a player who wants to play alone is not forced to use more than one agent at the same time due to the lack of difficult balance. Even in case of death of some players, the game will set the difficult to a reasonable and enjoyable level.
